actual bill (PDF) before Congress and a
plain language version (PDF).
They even have a
FairTax Calculator to see how it would affect your family.
Join today and help create a better, stronger America for everyone.
4. Demand that Washington Pass the FairTax
The most important people to inform about The FairTax are your elected officials in Washington and the Chairman
of the House Ways and Means Committee (where the FairTax Bill is currently stalled).
Politicians know that most of their constituents will not take the time to contact them,
so that each letter and call actually represents dozens, or even hundreds, of voters with the same views.
Your effort counts, literally — They track the number of voter comments and respond in writing.
You have lots of options: you can mail a prepared postcard,
drop them a quick email, fax a note, visit their offices, or call. But hand-written, personal letters are the most influential.
Here are some tips when calling:
- Ask for the Legislative Assistant in charge of tax issues.
- Ask them to make a "written record" of your call.
(If they ask you email your message instead, tell them you can't and ask them take down your information.)
- Tell them you are one of their constituents.
- Tell them you are a supporter of the FairTax Bill (HR 25 / S 296).
- Tell them you want your legislator to cosponsor, support, and promote the FairTax Bill.
- Ask them to sign a Congressional FairTax Pledge.
Program your cell phone with the phone numbers below so you can call whenever you are stuck in line,
in a waiting room, or in traffic.

5. Tell Friends and Neighbors About the FairTax
We have recently added a folder with useful files and literature to help you talk to
people about the FairTax Plan. Some files have been customized with District 4 meeting information and some
are left blank for customization. An assortment of literature is also available at FairTax meetings.
- 3UPs — Three slips of FairTax information on a single page.
- Articles — Scanned letters to the editor and newspaper articles.
- Flyers — Info one or two pages long, suitable for printing on a single sheet of paper.
- Info — Longer info, more specialized, and more in-depth.
- Petitions and Pledges — Paper forms to register support from individuals and candidates.
- Postcards — Print on 110 lb cardstock and mail to Legislators or friends and family.
- Speeches — Print as handouts or use to speak to groups.
- Tri-folds — Brochures, perfect for handing out and for leaving in waiting rooms.
- Graphics Folder — Lots of logos and images about the FairTax and Tea Party issues.
- There are a variety of other files, including some to help FairTax Community Coordinators.
Feel free to print and distribute these to your friends, neighbors, and even strangers!
6. Ask Your State Legislators to Show Support for the FairTax
Ask members of the Alabama state legislature to pass a joint resolution of support for Washington passing
the FairTax.
Since resolutions are non-binding, they are non-threatening and may be easier to pass.
(Suggested wording for Alabama or
Generic)
7. Show Your FairTax Colors
Show everyone that you support The FairTax by wearing t-shirts, hats, buttons, bumper stickers, and more,
purchased from The Official FairTax.org
Shop!
8. Volunteer to Help or Lead a Group
We are always looking for volunteers — whether to lead new groups or just to help out.
With so much going on, there's bound to be something that fits your interests, talents, and free time.
